ABOUT THE ARTIST

1I4A5757.JPG

Hi!

I am a first-generation Guatemalan- American artist and educator born in Los Angeles. I primarily work with oil paint but experiment with various media. Much of my work focuses on my Latino heritage and mental health. I choose to represent these two themes through vibrant color and light with an impressionistic approach to painting.

My goal as an educator is to diversify the representation of artists within art education. When building a curriculum for younger generations, I focus on highlighting contemporary artists of color that are rarely discussed in the public education system. I have worked with various ages ranging from elementary to high school.

My goal as a teacher in art education is to inspire younger generations further to embrace their creativity in everyday life beyond the classroom.
